Rhythm heaven is a great game, and I'm always looking for something that captures the same feeling. Melatonin does a solid job in emulating something similar, but with a chill, sleepy aesthetic. You've got a few “zones” that contain a few rhythm games, then a final game that combines all the games into a single song. Each mini-game also has a hard mode that's unlocked once you beat it for the first time.

I liked the themes of each zone, which managed to give each zone its own feelings distinct from each other, and the soundtrack is fantastic and matches how each game feels to play, from mechanical beeps with frequent button presses to floaty pads with holds and brief pauses…

The skill floor is really low which really helps the chill aesthetic, but the skill ceiling felt too low for me - there wasn’t much to learn and improve on since I was already getting best ranks and near-perfect ratings on the first try most of the time - however, it would be silly of me to fault the game for that since that’s not what it was going for. There’s plenty of more difficult rhythm games to be found (looking at you, ADOFAI)

Go play it for a nice, chill time.
